100% Restored to Original Condition

We've had some questions regarding the restoration. In short, everything was tested and made to work as new, then tested and retested again. A great deal of time was spent simply regulating the Pianola for peak performance.

The Pianola came through many decades in good condition. We were happy indeed to discover no evidence of a prior rebuild.

The pnuematic stack was in very nice shape and the highest quality rubber cloth was used to recover the individual units. The cloth was tested before using for any imperfections. A lot of cloth was discarded as unreliable.

The valve pouches are made of leather and are the originals; we gave them no attention except for using a special dilution containing Carter's Rubber Cement to treat them. They function perfectly and will continue to do so for a very long time.

The primary and secondary valves are faced with original baby seal skin and were cleaned and left as is.

The pumps, or bellows as they are often referred to, were covered as was the stack, with top quality rubberized cloth. Everything was made to function perfectly and attention to detail was painstakingly adherred to.

The cabinet was refinished and repaired to look as when the instrument was new, requiring 20% reveneering of the quartersawn mahogany and remanufacturing of a very small portion of the scrollwork.

It is a real treat to place this instrument in front of our grand piano and hear the subtle expressions in the music when a well-edited Metrostyle music roll is played.
